Final Score
Shockers 12
Bulldogs 1
The Shockers started off the night huddled in the bar at le Rinque taking in the Habs vs. Bruins game, gravely getting disappointed that the Canadiens were probably going to go down 3-0 in the series.
The Shockers would soon have something to cheer about.
The game kicked off and a little more than five minutes into it, Steve Diabo, would lace it past goalie, Danny Noel.
Ten seconds later, Steve Towell scores his first of the game and just because he doesn't like to be forgotten, Towell smacked in another about a minute later just to remind the goalie he was still around.
Marc Boucher, more known as The Claw, who strutted into the game with only a dirty threesome of assists was still looking to for his first notch in the bedpost this season. With about 8:15 left in the frame, he found the right elixir of magic to whisp upon the opposing goaltender as he fooled him with a low and direct one-timer. Two minutes later, the Claw, would unleash the dragon of fury once again with a solid blast from the point through an interracial orgy of players in front of the Bulldogs net.
"It feels great to break the ice and get my first goals of the season, even though it doesn't say so on the NABHL site!" commented Boucher.
If the Bulldogs thought they were leaving the first period just down 5-0, guess again, especially when Chris Diabo is around on the power play. Leave it to the kid to missile one passed everyone including the goalie who looked like nothing more than a bump on the log on that shot.
Onto the second period and the scoring kicked off with the Bulldogs catching the Shockers with their pants down. Dre Storelli picked off a clearing pass from Francois Hamelin right in the slot and managed to beat Giancarlo Capaz, who had limited work all night, with a surprising flee-flicker of a shot. But soon later it was business as usual for the Shockers as Jon Sante, who was filling in on center once again brought on the uncoming storm of goals. Donald Toohey carried the torch and lit the lamp twice back to back, then Chris Diabo got one. Big brother, Steve Diabo meshed a pretty one seconds later and then with two seconds left in the period, Chris DiSensi stirred up the pot with a goal of his own.
With the score already 12-1 the game was over before the third period even got to tick a second. The teams decided to play for fun anyways. They swapped goalies, where the Bulldogs goalie played fairly well on the Shockers side and even most Bulldog players were baffled. Toohey tested his abilities as a midget and took out a broken stick no bigger than 2 feet tall to play the rest. Towell tested his skills at broomball as he tried a fancy move out on Capaz.
The Shockers will take a little break before they have to take on the oh-so competitive FW, Wednesday, May 6th @ 7:30pm. FW, who always make short work out of the Shockers will have to buckle up for a new challenge.
